I have high regards for Nils, I liked him instantly when I met him for the first time, doing Owl Splinters together. Otto A Totland's modern compositional elements are most widely recognized as half of the Norwegian duo Deaf Center, where his melancholic, intricate piano work provides haunting relief to the beds of noise and deep strings from Erik K Skodvin. Every piece have different approaches — some comes effortlessly. I play them similar every time.
Some pieces are formed as part of an improvisation, others from a specific new playing technique I try out or a set of chords I like. Well, I did try piano school, a couple of times, when I was very young.
